__Tokugawa Ieyasu__

born to a daimyo family
elite member of the samurai class
sent as a hostage when he was young(during civil wars)
a patient strategist, who was brave yet cautious.

Ieyasu was freed when his captour died, and claimed the title of Daimyo.
wanted to expand his father's land
Pledged to protect Toyotomi's son (Hideyori)
Had his vanquished enemies decapatated(so that he could honor them)
"There are only two ways to come back from the battlefield-with the head of an enemy, or without your own"
Awarded the title of shogun, so he could rule Hideyoshi's empire.
Had christian activity haulted. Had Hideyoshi tricked into a truce, in which he overthrew hideyori's forces, and set the castle aflame.
With no further options, Hideyori commits seppuku.
(January 31, 1543 – June 1, 1616) was a Japanese warrior and the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan which ruled from the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 until the Meiji Restoration in 1868. A gifted leader and brilliant general, early in his career he helped Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi unify Japan. In 1590 he received the area surrounding Edo (Tokyo) in fief, and he later made Edo his capital. After Hideyoshi's death (1598), he became the most powerful daimyo by defeating rival barons in the battle of Sekigahara (1600). He became shogun in 1603, and abdicated in favor of his son Hidetada in 1605, but remained in power until his death in 1616.
As a shogun, he created and solidifyd the Tokugawa shogunate, (ruled Japan for the next 250 years) In 1613, he composed the Kuge Shohatto, used to supremacy by put the court daimyo under supervision, which left the daimyo as ceremonial figureheads.

__Toyotomi Hideyoshi__
Born a peasant, yet later became Oda Nobunaga's general, and took over after Oda's death.
He was known to be quick and desisive.
Ieyasu challenges him shortly after Hideyoshi takes over, but chooses to be an ally instead.
Held the emporor's favor, as he rivaled Tokugawa
Ordered his adoptive son to commit suicide, then buried him in the "tomb of traitors"

__Oda Nobunaga__
Oda Nobunaga was a fierce warlord, who killed Tokugawa's captour. He is famous for changing the way the Japanese fought(using muskets).
Before him, they would shout about themselves, with guns, it would be a waste, for they could just shoot.
